Domaine de la Milliere Chateauneuf du Pape 2018
Between coppices of green oak, pine trees and sweet-smelling Garrigue heath- land, our vines flourish like jewels in a setting of vegetation that has lost nothing of its wildness. La Milliere owns 26 hectares of vineyards since 1940. Their vineyards are home to some seriously old Grenache vines, planted between 1891-1920. None of them are younger than 50 years old. They value manual over mechanical. Organ- ic over chemical. Small production over large. They dont bend to trends in wine- making. Everything they do has a deliberate purpose leading to one goal that is framing the true character of the grapes. This Old vines CDP is made with grapes growing on big river-rolled pebbles mixed with brown clay, Chateauneuf-du-Pape's famous galets and blond sand.
All vineyard management is done using only 100% organic farming techniques. The vines are old, ranging from 80 to 100 years of age for the red wine grapes. But they also have some of the oldest vines in the appellation.
