Domaine Grande Bellane Cotes du Rhone Blanc 2021
The adventure began in 1919, when, on their return from the war, Raoul Couston and his father decided to turn the family broom making workshop into a wine-making cellar. Today the torch is taken over by Lionel and Damien, the 5th generation.
All the parcels are worked according to the rules of organic farming for the past 30 years. Their aim is to preserve the authenticity and singularity of this terroir in order to express its full potential. Soil life and biodiversity is promoted. The vine lives in harmony with birds, bees and other insects. The vineyards are mainly on high altitude slopes up to 430 meters above sea level which is the highest average height of the appellation. They also benefits from red limestone-clay terroir with large river-rolled pebbles that are known to be valuable when making great red wines to cellar. One of the specificities of the estate is that the vines are mainly Syrah. This grape variety flourishes on this high terroir where the coolness of the climate protects it from the high heat of summer. Here Syrah expresses its full complexity of aromas and flavors. From this terroir, Viognier, Roussanne and Marsanne give really fine whites.
